Jennifer A. Milne

After several years developing my skills as an attorney, I discovered a passion for ensuring that policyholders are represented fairly by their insurance companies and that valid claims are reasonably investigated and timely paid.  I joined Cannon Law in December 2021 as an experienced litigator with an established history of resolving disputes for my clients at all stages of litigation, from pre-trial settlement negotiations through successful jury verdicts and higher-level appeals.

My practice focuses on representing homeowners and commercial property owners in claims against their insurance companies, including damage to personal property, damage to buildings, loss of use, and additional living expenses resulting from hail, wind, fire, water, smoke, and other covered causes of loss under these insurance policies.  I also handle personal injury cases.  I wrote the briefing that created Colorado Supreme Court law limiting the evidence insurance companies can use to defend against allegations of bad faith claims handling and unreasonable delays or denials in the payment of covered insurance benefits.

I hold Honors degrees in Psychology and French from Hamilton College, was an associate editor for the University of Colorado Law Review, and represented indigent clients as a student attorney with Colorado Law’s criminal defense clinic.  Between college and law school, I worked with a small plaintiff’s litigation firm in Connecticut, specializing in personal injury cases. These experiences bring an additional level of empathy to relate to the circumstances my clients have experienced and how to effectively and persuasively communicate their position to others.  I am committed to helping people in need of support.

After law school, I clerked on the Colorado Court of Appeals for the Honorable James S. Casebolt and the Honorable David J. Richman and practiced with a well-respected commercial litigation firm in Denver before specializing in helping policyholders who have been wronged and mistreated.

I am a Board Member and co-chair of the Insurance Bad Faith Committee of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and a participant of the Women Trial Lawyers Network.

Personal

I am a former downhill ski racer and continue to explore the Colorado mountains.  I enjoy spending time with my dog, Bella, and listening to and participating in live music performances.
