The Quintanas had filed complaints for months, but the lawsuit alleges Barrier never called a licensed professional to repair the furnace, a requirement under City of Pueblo law. The suit further alleges the detectors in the apartment, which the brothers believed detected carbon monoxide, were in fact smoke-only detectors, a violation of Colorado state law. In a statement to KOAA, the Quintanas urged other renters to verify their detectors actually detect carbon monoxide and to keep pushing until a licensed professional shows up to fix any unresolved issues.
